Kimi K3 officially launched today across Kimi Web, App, Kimi Work, and Kimi Code. K3 is an ultra-large open model with 2.8 trillion total parameters and a 1M-token context window. For readers of this site, it also gives us another free agent that can tackle real work right away.
If you plan to register, start from this invite link. After you register and log in according to the rules, both the inviter and the new user receive one guaranteed prize draw. The minimum prize is credits equivalent to “3 days of Andante membership benefits.”
Why is Kimi K3 worth trying as a free agent?
According to the official Kimi K3 introduction, K3 is a 2.8T-parameter model with native vision and a 1M-token context window, focused on long-horizon coding, knowledge work, and reasoning.
- Long-horizon coding: It can keep working through longer engineering tasks, inspect large repositories, and coordinate terminal tools.
- Vision in engineering workflows: It can use screenshots and visual feedback for frontend work, game development, CAD, and similar tasks instead of coding blindly.
- Knowledge work: It is suited to deep research, document organization, reports, charts, slide decks, and interactive visualizations.
- 1M-token context: It has more room for long documents, large codebases, and multi-step tasks.
It is not a free replacement for the strongest closed models, and Kimi itself acknowledges that there is still a gap in the overall experience. But as a free agent available directly in Kimi Web, App, and Work, it deserves a place in your toolkit: try it on a real task first, then decide whether a paid plan is necessary.
Recommended free path: log in to a client within 3 hours
- Open the referral campaign page, confirm the link with the inviter, and create your Kimi account.
- Ideally, download and log in to the Kimi mobile app or desktop client immediately.
- The official rule requires the client login within 3 hours. If you are away from your computer, wait until you can complete the process.
- Return to the campaign page and use the prize draw you received.
Once completed, the inviter and the new user each receive one draw. Invited Enterprise users do not count toward this two-sided reward.
What are you guaranteed to win?
The prizes are Kimi Membership Credits at the Andante tier. The five probabilities add up to exactly 100%:
- Credits equivalent to 3 days of Andante monthly membership benefits: 90%
- 7 days: 7%
- 15 days: 1.9%
- 1 month: 1%
- 1 year: 0.1%
That means every draw is worth at least “3 days of Andante membership benefits.” However, “3 days” describes the amount of credit granted. It is not an unlimited three-day pass and does not mean unlimited usage for three days; the credits can run out earlier.
The prize becomes active when claimed and is valid through December 31, 2026. Members use it under their existing membership benefits. For non-members, the campaign rules currently confirm use in the Kimi Work desktop client. The prize is for the recipient only and cannot be transferred, gifted, or sold.
If you already planned to subscribe, you can get one more draw
If the invited user completes a paid membership subscription within 24 hours after the referral is bound, both the inviter and the invited user receive another prize draw.
This is only an optional bonus. If you already intended to subscribe, you may as well use it; there is no reason to pay solely for the draw. If the subscription is later fully refunded, canceled, or ruled invalid, unused related draws may be withdrawn.
Can these credits be used with Kimi Code?
We are not completely certain yet because the official rules do not go into that level of detail.
The campaign rules only guarantee Andante Membership Credits and explicitly say that non-members can use them in the Kimi Work desktop client. Separately, the official Kimi Code benefits page says members share their membership quota with Kimi Code: the CLI, VS Code, and third-party coding agents deduct from that quota, using bonus credits first.
But the campaign rules do not explicitly promise that these referral credits let non-members use Kimi Code through the CLI, VS Code, or third-party coding agents. So we cannot yet call this a “free Coding Plan.” After publication, we will test it with credits actually received and update this section as soon as we have the answer.
A free agent and a free API are not the same thing
Kimi K3 is worth recommending as a free agent, but that does not mean it offers a free API. Kimi Web, App, and Work are user-facing products; the official Kimi API is billed by token and is intended for integrating the model into your own software or service. Do not repackage in-product membership credits as API access, and do not provide services by sharing accounts or reselling credits.
The recommendation is straightforward: if you want a free agent for research, documents, and engineering tasks, Kimi K3 is worth trying. Whether these credits can run a coding agent for free still needs our test. If you need a programmable API, the official paid API remains the route.
Referral disclosure and campaign restrictions
The invite link in this article includes code JYJYYS. When you complete an eligible task through it, both you and the publisher of this article receive the corresponding prize draw.
For each task, only the first successful inviter linked to an invited user is recognized. Participate normally and do not use scripts, emulators, bulk registrations, false identities, malicious refunds, or similar methods to farm rewards. The campaign is open on an ongoing basis, but its rules and cycles may change; refer to the campaign page for the latest terms.
